Urgent Hiring - Administrative Compliance Technician

We are looking for dynamic Candidates for our Administrative Compliance Technician Position at NeighborWorks Alaska. 

NeighborWorks Alaska, a non-profit agency, is seeking an Administrative Compliance Technician to work with our growing compliance department. The right candidate will have excellent administrative skills and experience; and some form of accounting background. Experience with tax credit and HUD properties preferred. Must be computer literate, organized, and detail oriented. Excellent customer service skills to a wide variety of customers is essential to success in this position. You must also possess a current driver's license, reliable transportation, clean record, good credit report and pass a drug test.

This is a full-time position; Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with the option of flex-time. Join our team dedicated to supporting Stable Housing, Thriving Families & Strong Communities for all Alaskans!

Assists the Compliance Lead to control the requirements of compliance for the bond, tax credit, and HUD properties. Prepares annual management and financial audits. Also supports, assists and cross-trains with other property employees, such as the Property Manager, Compliance Lead, Resident Managers and the Maintenance Supervisor.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • High School Diploma
  • Property Management Experience in Affordable Housing (HUD)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Eagerness to increase housing compliance knowledge

Some of the Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, screens, and processes tenant applications for approval or corrections.
  • Ability to understand complex regulations and make determinations for application approval according to guidelines and policies and procedures.
  • Uses time wisely and efficiently. When assigned work is completed, takes initiative to request additional work. Carries out verbal and written directions, applying organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Recognizes and maintains confidentiality of work materials as appropriate.
  • Works independently in the absence of supervision and uses initiative and judgment in dealing with workflow and uncertain situations.
  • Organizes work by maintaining files of all correspondence from on-site managers and personnel regarding Rent Roll related issues, including requests for assistance, corrections and/or changes applied to the system, as well as solutions offered.
  • Provides historical reference by implementing and utilizing organized filing and retrieval systems.
  • Performs as relief receptionist at the front desk when needed. Receives calls and gives information to callers.Screens and routes calls to appropriate destination. Performs related receptionist duties.
  • Review files to ensure they are compliant with applicable Affordable Programs
  • Complete Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) tasks, including running reports and working discrepancies
  • Assists lead by identifying and working through potential compliance issues
  • Perform site file reviews for property audit preparation
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing and provide customer assistance and answer questions on compliance issues
  • Promote a supportive environment
  • Work as an effective member of a team and in a collaborative manner with staff, peers, and supervisor
  • Other duties, as assigned and/or as necessary


  • Experience in affordable housing industry, preferred
  • Prior HUD and Tax Credit experience, preferred
  • Good listening and verbal communications skills are a must
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Must be computer literate in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with Yardi, preferred
